DESCRIPTION:Manual Handling Instructor\, 6S0242 – QQI Level 6 Award Learn
 er Profile\n\nParticipants will typically be either company employees or m
 embers of the public with an interest in Manual Handling Training and in t
 he development of Instructor skills in this important workplace area. The 
 programme will have a 5 day duration and will focus on practical aspects o
 f Manual Handling in the Workplace\, Risk Assessment for Manual Handling T
 asks and the Development of Essential Trainer Skills.\n\nIt is likely that
  a successful participant will be required by their company to deliver sta
 ff training in this discipline\, following the programme. The programme wi
 ll be highly interactive and practical in nature and will demand a high le
 vel of learner participation and engagement at all stages. Eligibility Cri
 teria\n\nParticipants will be over 18 years of age prior to course commenc
 ement date.\n\nParticipants will require a good level of English\, both or
 al and written. The minimum standard required of personnel for whom Englis
 h may not be their first language is set at level B2 on the Common Europea
 n Framework of Reference for Languages. Evidence of competence and certifi
 cation to this standard will be demonstrated by means the IELTS (Internati
 onal English Language Testing System).\n\nThere is currently no specific r
 equirement for participants to have completed a previous programme of trai
 ning at a similar or lower level on the NFQ.\n\nParticipants will require 
 a reasonable level of physical fitness so that practical elements of the p
 rogramme\, including assessment elements\, can be undertaken successfully.
 \n\nAssessment Participants\, as part of programme assessment\, will be re
 quired to demonstrate good practical manual handling skills. Participants 
 will also be required to instruct and assess other learners in correct man
 ual handling techniques in a simulated workplace setting. Participants wil
 l further be required to present a selected theoretical module from the An
 derlift Safety Services Manual Handling Training Presentation. The assessm
 ent presentation to be delivered will be 15 minutes in duration approximat
 ely and will focus on one of the following components:\n\nIntroduction to 
 Manual Handling and Legal Overview\n\nRisk Assessment for Manual Handling\
 n\nAnatomy of the Spine and Injury Potential\n\nFitness\, Flexibility and 
 Posture Issues\n\nKey Ergonomic Principles\n\nThe Key Points of Safe Lifti
 ng using the ground level lift as an example\n\nThere will also be a short
  written test of knowledge as well as a requirement for participants to co
 mplete a work-based Manual Handling Risk Assessment Assignment based on a 
 specific assignment brief and using approved templates that will be provid

  Fitness and Flexibility\, Biomechanics and the nature of back and other m
 usculoskeletal injuries.\n\nUnderstand and be able to demonstrate a range 
 of Instructional Skills based on Adults learning concepts and principles.\
 n\nBe able to demonstrate and explain the Practical Lifting and moving of 
 loads at different levels – as well as analysing participant performance
  of specific lifts.\n\nBe able to effectively use approved Risk Assessment
  templates to assess and record potential risks associated with workplace
